A-weighting

Electronic filtering applied in sound level meters to simulate the response of the human ear.

Pink Noise

In building acoustics, this is random noise with the same sound pressure level in each one-third octave band in the audible range - roughly 20 to 20,000 hertz. The average spectrum of music is close to a pink noise spectrum.
